REQUIREMENT - TELKOM PHONE LINE
NOTES	ADSL needs an existing Telkom land-line. Telkom do not allow Prepaid customers to have ADSL service. Telkom-Prepaid customers will have to upgrade to full subscription land-line to be able to then upgrade to ADSL. The land-line is then upgraded to a 2 in 1 product to supply voice and data over the same copper cable. The phone number remains the same, and existing handsets, faxes etc. will all work as they did previously. The line filter supplied with most modems assists with the voice and data separation. Land line can only be ordered through Telkom directly

NOTES	Existing phone line is upgraded to ADSL line, by moving the phone circuit at the exchange to a newer type of digital exchange that supports both voice and data over existing copper cables.
